General rules

  1. The Penn & Tylers Green Village Show is organised by the Village Show Committee, “the Committee”

  2. Classes are open to all entrants other than men's cookery and those for young people.

  3. All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor and be submitted in the appropriate class.

  4. The decision of the Committee on rules or protests will be final.

  5. Please click here for details of any rules specific to each class and set recipes – size and other limitations will be strictly applied.

  6. The award of points will be as follows: first: 5 points, second: 3 points, third 2 points.  Trophies will be awarded to the best entry in designated class(s) or the most points designated classes.

  7. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. The judges’ preference will be for quality. 

  8. Prize money will only be awarded to entrants in the young person classes: first: £1.00, second: 50p, third: 20p.

  9. The cups and trophies remain the sole property of the Committee or its successors. Prizes are the responsibility of the recipients until returned to a Committee member no later than two weeks before the following year’s show.

  10. Hints for staging your exhibit are included in each of the classes (click here to view).

  11. All entries are judged anonymously by independent judges. Members and family of the Village Show Committee are permitted to enter.

Hints and tips for exhibitors

Read the schedule, including the rules carefully.  If anything is unclear, please contact the Show Secretary. Ensure that the entry form is complete and observe the deadline for entries.  Watch “old hands”, allow sufficient time for staging and above all, enjoy the day. Please remember that uniformity of items in your entry for a class is important. Make sure entries’ labels are placed correctly and that the number of exhibits is correct.
